Exclusive: Growing Pains' Joanna Kerns Joins NBC Comedy Pilot From Community Scribe

Growing Pains‘ Joanna Kerns is returning to her sitcom roots with a role in NBC’s untitled comedy pilot from Community writer Hilary Winston, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The project revolves around Agnes (7th Heaven‘s Sarah Wright), a shy, focused woman who, after being dumped by her fiancé, leans on her co-workers (played by Mena Suvari, Aubrey Dollar and Kyle Howard) to help come out of her shell and plot her revenge. (Probably not in Emily Thorne style.)

Kerns, who is obviously best known for her role as Growing Pains matriarch Maggie Seaver, more recently played Katherine Heigl’s mom in Knocked Up.

Winston penned the pilot and will serve as EP alongside Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings, My Boys) and Julia Franz (Scrubs).
