Scoop: David Krumholtz Eyes Lead Role Opposite Michael Urie in CBS Comedy Pilot Partners

David Krumholtz PartnersDavid Krumholtz is nearing a deal to play the literal straight man opposite Michael Urie in Partners, CBS’ comedy pilot from Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

Partners follows two architects — Charlie (Krumholtz) is straight, Louis (Urie) gay — whose friendship has lasted longer than either of their romantic relationships and almost seems like a weird marriage. When Charlie decides to propose to his girlfriend (One Tree Hill‘s Sophia Bush), Louis’ neurotic attempts to be supportive nearly result in the breakup of his own relationship. Erstwhile Man of Steel Brandon Routh costars as Louis’ boyfriend.

The project, which brings Krumholtz back into the CBS fold for the first time since his Numb3rs days (he’s even playing another Charlie!), is based on Kohan and Mutchnick’s own relationship.
