CBS on Wednesday doled out another three pilot orders, one of which is for a drama that sounds a bit similar to this winter’s buzzy flick, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
From former L Word showrunner Ilene Chaiken and Matrix EP Joel Silver, Quean is a drama pilot centering on an edgy, punk-rock girl who uses her hacker skills to help an Oakland-based detective solve crimes. A li’l Lisbeth Salander-ish, no?
The network also picked up an untitled 1960s period piece about famed rodeo cowboy-turned-Las Vegas sheriff Ralph Lamb (to be executive-produced and written by Nicholas Pileggi and Greg Walker), plus Applebaum, a drama about a former public defender who avoids the stay-at-home-mom blues by becoming a private investigator. The latter, based on the Mommy Track Mysteries book series, will be directed and exec-produced by filmmaker Christopher Columbus.

Prior to these pickups, CBS ordered Black Widow, a cop drama pilot from CSI exec producer Carol Mendelsohn, and Super Fun Night, a comedy from Conan O’Brien starring Bridesmaids‘ Rebel Wilson.
