Ratings: Big Brother Returns Bigger

The return of Big Brother buoyed CBS to an all-around Thursday win, in both total viewers and in the coveted 18-49 demo.

The launch of BB13 drew 7.7 million total viewers while scoring a 2.7 demo rating — that bested all Thursday comers and represents increases of 3 and 13 percent versus the reality show’s July 2010 opener.

Elsewhere on Thursday:

* ABC’s Wipeout led the 8 o’clock hour with 6.64 million viewers and a 2.0 rating, on par with its week-ago numbers. With 5.4 million viewers and a 1.6, So You Think You Can Dance saw a small uptick in audience.

* Now facing CBS’ big, bad Brother, ABC’s Expedition Impossible (5.5 mil/1.6) dropped 10 percent.

* At 10 pm, Rookie Blue (5.7 mil/1.5) enjoyed a 6 percent gain, while NBC’s Love Bites (1.97 mil/0.7) drew a few new viewers.
