In turn, The Voice at 10 pm drew its largest audience ever — 14.4 million viewers — and enjoyed a 29 percent boost in the demo, hitting a 4.9 rating.

But not everyone was watching dancers, jugglers and dancers, no sir. ABC’s coverage of the NBA Finals Game 1 averaged 12.84 million total viewers from 9 to 11 pm and topped the Tuesday demos with a 5.5 rating. Based on metered market overnight ratings, the telecast is on pace to deliver the best numbers for a finals opener since 2004 (Detroit vs. Lakers), while improving on Miami-Dallas’ previous Game 1 face-off (circa 2006) by 15 percent.
