Casting Scoops: HawthoRNe Brings On a Mom, Susan Saint James Suits Up

Two veteran TV actresses are headed to primetime this summer, and only TVLine has the exclusive scoop.

Míriam Colón, who was most recently seen on HBO’s How to Make It in America, is set to guest-star on the upcoming third season of TNT’s HawthoRNe. The Guiding Light alumna will appear in the June 28 episode of the medical drama as the ailing mother of Marc Anthony’s Detective Nick Renata. The character will also serve as an emotional and spiritual support system for Nick’s close friend, Christina (Jada Pinkett Smith).

And here’s to more Joy-ful casting news: Kate & Allie alumna Susan Saint James has been tapped to guest-star on Suits, the new USA Network series that stars Gabriel Macht (Behind Enemy Lines) as a top-shelf attorney and Patrick J. Adams (Friday Night Lights) as the young savant/legal whiz who assists him. St. James will play Joy McAfee, the founder of a toy company who, on the cusp of inking a major licensing deal, reconsiders her life priorities upon meeting Adams’ off-beat character.

HawthoRNe is back Wednesday, June 14 at 10/9c, while Suits debuts Thursday, June 23.
