TVLine Items: Regis' Dancing Dilemma, Dexter Adds Mos Def, and Other TV News to Know

Regis Philbin has officially been asked to join the next season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, and he’ll only sign on under one condition: “I want Derek Hough [as a partner], or no deal!” Hey, the man knows what he likes.

In all seriousness, the daytime talker vet announced Wednesday that DWTS must have “reached the bottom of the barrel” because he’d received his first official offer to participate on the show. “How could I do it?!” he laughed. “I’ve got to carry [Live with Regis & Kelly] on my back through November, so I can’t get away. And I’m not a good dancer. I can’t do it all! It’s too much for Regis.”

And with that bubble burst… check out more of today’s TV dish:

Dexter continues to up its game, nabbing Mos Def for a multi-episode arc in the Showtime drama’s sixth season. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the actor/hip-hop star will play a “hardened ex-con who claims to have found religion yet seems to continually find himself surrounded by violence.”

Rachael Ray has announced plans to launch a new celebrity cooking competition series with Guy Fieri. “It is basically the cooking equivalent of Dancing With the Stars,” the foodie revealed on her syndicated Rachael Ray Show. (Big thanks to AOL’s TV Squad for posting the video.)

• Looks like CBS’ The Amazing Race isn’t going anywhere any time soon: Host Phil Keoghan has signed a deal for “several more years,” part of which awards him the title of co-executive producer, says TV Guide Magazine.

• TNT is already said to be eying a Falling Skies Season 2 pickup, even though Season 1 doesn’t debut until June 19. Deadline says the cabler is looking ahead to another year after the exciting hire of new showrunner Remi Aubuchon (Caprica).
