Pilots: Natasha Henstridge Enters Secret Circle, Emmy Winner Cherry Jones Joins REM

Natasha Henstridge has joined The Secret Circle, Vampire Diaries EP Kevin Williamson’s drama pilot for The CW. It centers on Cassie (Life Unexpected‘s Britt Robertson), a young woman who moves to a new town and discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a secret coven, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.

Henstridge will play Dawn Chamberlain, the New Salem High School vice principal who was once a friend of Cassie’s  mother and knows all about the coven that has ruled the town for over 300 years. Henstridge recently did an arc on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, and was a cast member on ABC’s Eli Stone.

In other pilot news: Cherry Jones, an Emmy winner for her role on 24, is reuniting with the action-drama’s showrunner, Howard Gordon, for REM, the NBC drama pilot from creator/exec producer Kyle Killen (Lone Star). Described as an Inception-style thriller, the project centers on Mark Britten (Harry Potter‘s Jason Isaacs), a police detective who wakes up after an accident to find he is living in two different realities — one in which he has killed his son Rex, and one in which he killed his wife Hannah in a car accident. Jones will play Dr. Stephanie Evans, Mark’s shrink in the reality in which his wife died.

Gordon, who cast Jones as 24‘s President Alison Taylor, serves as executive producer/showrunner on REM.
