Maybe this whole Amanda-death notion (the most popular rumor circulating among fans) has just been a red herring. What if the boat sinks, but everyone on board is safe and sound? Padma, on the other hand, is not after The Initiative learns that she’s now working in cahoots with Nolan. Her death would free Nolan up for more Emily-centric stories — plus, he’d be heartbroken, so maybe he could start is own revengenda.
Kenny and/or Nate Ryan
Why not? Their convoluted storyline — they’re out to avenge their dad’s death and they’re mid-level thugs — has pretty much run its course. Our vote? Make ’em fish food.
What if a new Initiative operative learns of Helen’s death, pins it on Daniel and offs him? This would open up loads of fresh material for Victoria, Conrad, Emily, Charlotte — heck, even Ashley. Would Em’s true feelings for Daniel resurface, causing a rift with Aiden? Would Victoria blame Emily and target the longtime Thorne in her side? The possibilities are endless.
We can see it now: Worried after being unable to reach Jack on the ship-to-shore radio, Declan hops on a little row boat to make sure everything is all right. (It’s possible, right? Jack and Amanda can’t be that far out into the ocean yet.) He arrives to find Nate attacking his bro and sis-in-law, steps in to save them and loses his life in an act of selflessness. With Declan out of the way, Jack could really shine as the grief-stricken big brother. How delicious would it be for compassionate Emily to find her way back into Jack’s arms while Amanda and Aiden bond over their straying loved ones?
Her death would affect Emily greatly, would give Jack a storyline (perhaps a little revenge of his own?) and would draw Jack and Em together again in their shared grief. Plus, Fauxmanda committed the cardinal sin of interfering with Em’s revegenenda by stealing the laptop — if the boat explosion doesn’t get her, Emily will probably murder her instead.
Picture it: Ashley convinces her “boss” that aiding the rescue of the Amanda will help his future gubenatorial campaign (who wouldn’t vote for a hero?), so he jets out to the boat and winds up somehow meeting an unfortunate end. (Yeah, we know — someone as self-involved as the former Grayson Global CEO isn’t likely to put his well-being on the line for anyone, least of all some townie kids with some incredibly bad luck.)
His death would wreck Emily, and we’ve seen just how relentless she can be when fueled by the twin powers of grief and anger. Plus, with her childhood love out of the way, an Aiden/Emily relationship would have one less impediment. (And — bonus! — maybe Declan would leave town?)
How gutsy (though wholly unlikely) would it be for creator Mike Kelley to kill our beloved vengeance-seeker halfway through Season 2? All of the good guys would mourn her loss — Nolan, Jack and Amanda along them — and then they could team up in their own quest for revenge!
