How I Met Your Mother: Six Potential Moms Debunked -- and Two Who Could Still Be The One
DEBUNKED: Ted gave away that the Canadian beauty isn’t the mother of his children in the very first episode of the show. But diehard fans of the doomed couple wouldn’t give up hope for a twist — after all, this is HIMYM. Now that Robin’s getting hitched to Barney, we can finally put this potential mother to rest. (We think.)
TED’S PERFECT MATCH
POSSIBLE: After much scouring, the dating service Love Solutions Match finally found Ted’s dream girl in Season’s 1 “Milk.” But instead of going out with her, Ted decided Robin was the one he wanted. Could she be Cindy’s bass-playing roommate?
POSSIBLE: In Season 3’s “No Tomorrow,” Ted bumped into a random girl at a St. Patrick’s Day party — the same bash that his future wife also attended. The curious case of the camera lingering on an extra has us wondering if Ted was knocked into his soulmate… or a red herring.
DEBUNKED: Ted came thisclose to marrying the single mom. Alas, she left him at the altar for her ex. Oh, how quickly they forget about the super romantic two-minute date.
THE SLUTTY PUMPKIN
DEBUNKED: For years, Ted waited for the mystery girl in the revealing Halloween costume. Then he finally tracked her down (in the form of Katie Holmes’ Naomi) and their first date was kind of like a pumpkin left out too long on the porch.
DEBUNKED: Ted and the cupcake maker had an undeniable connection from the moment they first glimpsed each other across a wedding reception. But then he cheated on her with Robin. This season, the two got another shot at love — that once again ended because Ted couldn’t cut Robin out of his life.
WENDY THE WAITRESS
DEBUNKED: It would have been cute if the gal serving the gang drinks all these years turned out to be The One. But according to the end of the tune “Ted Mosby Is a Jerk” (when played backwards), “Wendy the Waitress is the mother…of the goat.” Plus, when Ted meets up with the brunette in 2021, she’s happily married with kids — as is Ted.
DEBUNKED: As soon as Barney mentioned his half-sister, alarm bells went off. She could conceivably be at his wedding, where Ted meets the mom, and as a college student, there’s a chance she attends the school where the bachelor teaches. Too bad HIMYM squashed that theory when the unseen sis was introduced as Ted’s much younger fling.
