Daniel Radcliffe-Led Anthology Comedy Snags Series Order at TBS

Harry Potter is entering the #PeakTV realm.

TBS has handed a seven-episode series order to Miracle Workers, an anthology comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson and exec-produced by Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels.

Scheduled to launch on TBS in 2018, the first season of Miracle Workers is being billed as aHeaven-set workplace comedy” in which Radcliffe will play Craig, a low level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers. Wilson will portray Craig’s boss, God, who has pretty much checked out to focus on his favorite hobbies. To prevent Earth’s destruction, Craig must achieve his most impossible miracle to date

“Having Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson join the TBS family is proof of the continued evolution of this comedy brand asthe home of the most creative minds in the business,” said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for TBS in a statement.

Radcliffe’s previous TV work is pretty much limited to the UK comedy A Young Doctor’s Notebook, in which he starred alongside Jon Hamm for two seasons.

What’s up with all the A list stars doing TV? I feel like back in the day a guest star role was likely but big movie stars would have never starred on a TV show. I like it.

      Better material.

Cable also allows for more creative freedom and less censorship. Also shorter seasons in case another movie comes calling. I like it too. It gives more opportunities to great actors who were once white-hot, but not so much in demand anymore.

What is up with the article photo? Radcliffe’s face almost looks Photoshopped onto that head… is it the lighting & makeup?

  4. this sounds like a huge ripoff of the book “What in God’s Name” by SImon RIch who created the awesome “Man Seeking Woman” series

  5. Eureka says:

Poor guy. People are going to be calling him Harry Potter til he dies.

  6. Cheryl says:

It sounds like a fun show. I’ll definitely be checking it out with Radcliffe & Wilson starring!

I wasn’t sure about Owen Wilson as God until I continued reading the description. Owen Wilson as a slacker God spending all his time watching TV and doing card tricks (or, y’know, whatever his hobbies are)? Yeah, I can get behind that.
