NBC Reverie Shahi Haysbert

VR Drama Reverie, Starring Sarah Shahi and Dennis Haysbert, Ordered at NBC

One could say that NBC is getting into “virtual reality-TV” programming, by granting a series order to Reverie, a new drama starring Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest) and Dennis Haysbert (24).

From Extant creator Mickey Fisher, the thriller follows Mara Kint (Shahi), a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when she’s brought in to save people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced virtual-reality program in which you can literally live your dreams, “she finds that in saving others, she may actually have discovered a way to save herself.”

Haysbert plays Mara’s former boss, now the security chief for the virtual reality company, Reverie, while the cast also includes Sendhil Ramamurthy (Covert Affairs), Jessica Lu (Awkward) and Kathryn Morris (Cold Case).

Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows) directed the pilot and will serve as an executive producer alongside Fisher, Brooklyn Weaver, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.

Love the leads, like the cast. The premise seems a bit different. I’ll watch it.

  2. Andrea says:

The cast sounds awesome, but the premise really is not my thing. Not sure if I’ll be able to watch it or not. Sounds kinda dark.

  3. Sarah Shahi FTW! I’ll watch anything with her in it.

  4. KLS says:

    Glad Sarah got another show!

  5. Jess says:

Might have to watch this. Love the cast.

  6. Litz says:

The cast is A+, like everyone else here in the comments have mentioned, though I am slightly worried about the premise. It could be amazing or it could fall flat on its face. But I’m checking it out for sure!

  7. JK3 says:

I like the leads and similar premises have been pulled off well in animes so I’ll give it a shot.

  8. emor says:

I’m so glad they are bringing back VR5!! (#nonewideas)

  9. wb ms shahi says:

Yes! Loved her in POI. Miss POI and miss her in it, so this will be second best for me, but I’m definitely going to watch this one.

  10. Michael Summerset says:

The premise has just been covered in SHIELD. I found it wasn’t all that interesting since pretty much any sort of development in the VR world, aside from maybe death, was irrelevant.

  11. TvPeong says:

    Sounds interesting.

  12. Judson says:

Agents of Shield did this premise this year. I found it just stupid. It’s VR so anything in it is fake. Love Sara, and I’ll give it try just for her, but I predict an early demise

  13. R.O.B. says:

“…but she may actually have discovered a way to save…HERSELF…”

  14. meatwad says:

with those leads i’ll watch it no matter what

  15. Cynthia says:

I’ll definitely try it out. I love Sarah Shahi and have missed Sendhil on my television screen!

  16. Billy meacham says:

Might give it a chance but it’s NBC.

  17. DL says:

Hmm, actually sounds like a novel I’m working on, but the show’s concept feels a little nebulous so far. They’ll have to back up the cool idea with some solid storytelling for this to work. I’ll certainly check it out.

  18. Fido says:

Don’t care what this is about, you had me at Sarah Shahi. :)
