Ratings: The Blacklist Returns Steady, The Catch Grabs New Lows

NBC’s The Blacklist returned from its two-month break to 4.9 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating, ticking down in audience while holding onto its most recent demo number.

The bubble drama’s second hour drew 4.9 mil and a 0.8, dipping in the demo to mark a series low.

Opening the Peacock’s night, Superstore (3.1 mil/0.9) was up a tenth, while Powerless (2.1 mil/0.6) was steady.

Over on ABC, bubble drama The Catch (3 mil/0.6) ticked down to new series lows. Leading out of a Season 1 rerun, Scandal (5.1 mil/1.3) dipped to an audience low while steady in the demo (tying a Big Bang rerun for the nightly win) .

Fox’s MasterChef Junior (3.5 mil/1.0) and Kicking & What Is This Show? (1.9 mil/0.6) each rose a tenth.

Leading out of sitcom reruns, a double pump of The Amazing Race did 4.4 mil/0.9 and then 3.8 mil/0.8, compared to last week’s 4.2 mil/0.8.

This Season of the Catch has been so good. Such a shame that it will prob be cancelled.

    • Julia says:

I agree! I find it really entertaining this season. Too bad more people aren’t watching it. It feels like kind of a throwback show like a Moonlighting or Remington Steele, but updated for today’s audience. Really like it! And like the addition of Warren Christie right now. Hope he stays for a while. More people should be watching!!

    • Natalie says:

I had a Catch marathon last weekend and really enjoyed it.

    • Carla Krae says:

I think people probably are watching on DVR. We watch The Blacklist live, record The Catch, and watch it after the news.

  2. Kevin Tran says:

Great to see Blacklist returning from its two month hiatus and the two hour episode blew me away. The second hour was the best I’ve ever seen involving the whole backstory of Mr. Kaplan which includes flashbacks. Let’s hope Blacklist gets renewed for a fifth and possibly final season soon.

  3. Wrstlgirl says:

Easily the two best episodes of The Blacklist I’ve seen since season one. The second hour was actually the best ep they’ve ever done.

  4. fernando933 says:

Season 2 of The Catch has proven worthy of more seasons, I just hope ABC gives it a season 3 for another midseason run. They should release the first two on Netflix

  5. Lynn says:

The Blacklist was great last night but especially that second hour. How great was the casting for young Mr. Kaplan. I’m glad they realize there is no one who can replace Spader though and didn’t even try, just had his face in shadow and did a little CGI to make him look younger.

  6. Brian says:

Hope Amazing Race can get another season. This show is still fun to watch. And wish Scandal would from here on out start building on what works for the show. It’s gotten to the point where the show can’t afford to have crappy episodes anymore. Last night’s show was good, but so many have given up on this show.

That second hour was likely the best Blacklist of the entire series TO DATE. Always loved Kaplan but this took her character to a whole new level.

  8. Doug Henning says:

I agree with the comments about Blacklist’s 2nd hour last night.. I guess Red must have figured she survived getting shot in the woods.. That Flashback episode answered so so many questions… not sure why Liz didn’t remember Mr Kaplan better from her youth or maybe she did and I didn’t pay attention??? Or was all of that period with her mother wiped from her mind??

  9. RJ Beige says:

Blacklist is still the best…biggest problem is its time slot especially on the east coast ( I’m a teacher but will never miss it!). All characters are at 100% the Dembe lead, then Mr. Kaplan and the back story to the present were incredible! I feel we have finally reached a pivotal point. There needs to be a link between Liz, the fire that has been talked about, Kaplan, Red and the rest of the mystery still in front of us. I hope there is a season five and please find a time to rerun episodes for those of us without a DVR. GREAT SHOW … GREAT CAST … WRITING IS INCREDIBLE!

  10. Tomm Huntre says:

That BLACKLIST was, as stated here many times, EXCELLENT!!! From the casting of younger Mr. Kaplan to weaving her into Liz’s backstory – it was damned good!!!

  11. Joey Padron says:

The 2 new episodes of The Blacklist was really good. It was good to see the origin story of Mr. Kaplan and see how she is connected to Liz.

  12. kmw says:

Not bad for The Blacklist all things considered how long it was off. The Catch shouldn’t come back but with Shonda’s shows you never know. Scandal at least stayed the same

  13. Kim R says:

Love Mr. Kaplan’s back story. Loved the music choices. That last scene in the rink was fantastic. Can’t wait for next week.

  14. Casanova34 says:

Live James Spader but have to be honest I have struggled to stay with the show since they revealed that he is Lizs father. I have the two episodes from last night on the DVR maybe I’ll check them out.

  15. Beezers says:

The second hour of Blacklist was incredible. Not only great acting, but storytelling back to the way it was before the show became mostly about Liz, her baby, and Tom to cover for the actress getting pregnant
