The singer and occasional actor has signed on to play Antonio D’Amico, the longtime partner of murdered fashion designer Gianni Versace in Season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s true crime anthology series, TVLine has learned.
This marks the General Hospital alum’s most high profile acting gig since Murphy tapped him to play Will’s Spanish instructor in a 2012 episode of Glee.
The 10-episode drama centers on the July 1997 assassination of Versace on the steps of his Miami Beach mansion by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. The season will be based on the book Vulgar Favors by Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth.
As previously reported, Venezuelan actor Édgar Rarmirez (The Bourne Ultimatum) is set to play Versace. The cast also includes Penélope Cruz as Versace’s sister Donatella and Darren Criss as Cunanan.
Production of Versace: American Crime Story is scheduled to begin later this month and premiere in 2018.
