April Fools: TV's 12 Biggest Buffoons — From Friends, Glee, Golden Girls & More

Nobody likes being pranked, so we here at TVLine are attempting to redefine April Fool’s Day by commemorating some of TV’s dopiest characters ever.

In celebration of the juvenile holiday, we’re singling out 12 of the small screen’s biggest nitwits and ranking them from smartest (by default) to dumbest (based on their presumed overall IQs). Those deemed the most empty-headed (who thus make up the gallery) range from a Florida-based retiree to a high school glee club singer. We’ve also got a TV newsman and a New York senator among our ranks, proving that sometimes all it takes is people skills to make it in this world.

Check out the attached gallery to count down to our pick for the tube’s all-time dimmest bulb — or click here for direct access — then hit the comments with the numbskulls you think we were ignorant to exclude.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

No Andy Dwyer?? He used bubble bath as laundry detergent because “they both make bubbles.” And when he liked April he wrote her a song named after a month if the year..called November! He’s one of the best parts of Parks and Recreation!

    • Jooshua says:

Yeah I’m pretty shocked about the exclusion of Johnny Karate. I leave you with this simple, most amazing line: “Leslie, I typed your symptoms into the computer up here and it says you could have “network connectivity problems.”

    • Hannah says:

I was surprised Andy wasn’t on here as well. He is so wonderful, yet so so simple.

  2. Drew says:

    Tim the Tool Man Taylor?
And going back a ways, how about Barney Fife (The Andy Griffith Show)?

  3. Drew says:

Honestly, though, this is a pretty great list of some great characters who borough t a lot of laughter over the years. Well done!

  4. Marco Piazzo says:

King Richard from Galavant? Troy Barnes from Community?

  5. ToyCannon says:

I would add Jessica Tate (Soap), Jethro Bodine (Beverly Hillbillies), Gomer Pyle, Maxwell Smart, Skippy (Family Ties) and Cliff Claven (Cheers)

  6. steven says:

I’m pretty sure it was Yogi Bear that Kelly thought was a documentary.

  7. Claire says:

I would add Woody from Cheers.

  8. burnscindy says:

    The governor from Benson.

  9. phredd! says:

Sinclaire from “Living Single” and Waldo from “Family Matters”
