Ratings: Pitch Ticks Up With Finale, Notorious Ends on (Very) Low Note

Fox’s Pitch wrapped its rookie season on Thursday night with 2.9 million total viewers and a 0.8 demo rating (per finals), rising 20 percent and a tenth week-to-week to mark its best numbers since Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, respectively. TVLine readers gave the finale an average grade of “A.”

Opening Fox’s night, Taraji P. Henson’s holiday special did 3.5 mil and a 0.9, down sharply from last year’s inaugural edition yet improving on Rosewood‘s most recent tallies.

Elsewhere in the ratings….

THE CW | Legends of Tomorrow (2 mil/0.7) dropped from its crossover numbers yet is up a tick from its last “regular” episode. Supernatural (1.7 mil/0.6) was flat.

NBC | Thursday Night Football (17.4 mil/5.6) is down about 19 percent from last week’s finals.

ABC | Airing an hour later, Notorious‘ “season” finale (2.6 mil/0.5) plunged to easy series lows.

CBS |  Leading out of a Big Bang rerun (9.7 mil/1.7), The Great Indoors (7.3 mil/1.5) nonetheless rose two tenths, while Mom (7.5 mil/1.4) and Life in Pieces (6.5 mil/1.3) ticked up. Pure Genius (5.6 mil/1.0) rose 17 percent and two tenths.

Well its nice that Pitch got a little uptick but I think it is too little too late for the show, at least on FOX. But then again maybe FOX give it another chance. The holiday special while better numbers than Rosewood sure didn’t help them much.

  2. Kevin says:

Notorious and Pitch should have zero chance of getting renewed. #sorrynotsorry

  3. GuessWhat says:

Never watched PITCH because the concept seemed more appropriate for a 2-hour movie rather than a drawn-out series. Those #s are still really weak. But maybe because it’s a critical darling and those few people watching score it so high that it will survive?

Can’t believe the numbers for TNF were so low, it was an excellent game with an even better outcome! I’m so sad that Pitch didn’t do better than a .8 because it’s such a quality show and it fits nicely with the FOX sports brand. Please FOX, do the fans a solid and renew it, don’t let it go the way of your other “gone too soons”.

  5. Pat D. says:

Its not really fair to Notorious if it gets judged on last night’s ratings—its been on hiatus for 2 weeks and AFAIK was not advertised when it was coming back for the finale very well.
