Doctor Who Xmas Special Trailer: Can a Masked Vigilante Help Save New York?

Doctor Who‘s annual holiday special is looking mighty super.

BBC One on Friday released a new trailer for Doctor Who: The Return of Doctor Mysterio, which finds Orphan Black and Shameless alum Justin Chatwin as the titular vigilante.

In the hour-long standalone episode (airing Christmas Day at 9/8c on BBC America), The Doctor partners with Doctor Mysterio and an investigate journalist (The Player‘s Charity Wakefield) to save New York from an alien threat. Matt Lucas also turns up, reprising his role as Nardole from 2015’s The Husbands of River Song.

The Doctor. A masked superhero. Alien brains that might be brain snatchers. All this needs is Bender and pretty sure we’ll have some kind of crazy Futurama/Doctor Who mashup.

These X-mas specials tend to be 90 minutes. Is this one shorter?

    Can’t wait.
