Timeless H.H. Holmes

Timeless to Visit 1893 World's Fair, Casts Role of Serial Killer H.H. Holmes

NBC’s Timeless is charting a course for Chicago circa 1893, where the Windy City’s forecast will call for — cue ominous thunderclap — murder.

Indeed, TVLine has learned exclusively that Joel Johnstone has been cast as Dr. Henry Howard Holmes aka H.H. Holmes, who is considered to be one of America’s first documented serial killers. Holmes’ “Murder Castle” (the hotel where he committed myriad murders) plays a central role in Episode 10, when the Time Team finds themselves in Chicago 1893 during The World’s Fair.

As previously reported in my Inside Line column, the same episode will feature an appearance by a yet-to-be-cast young Harry Houdini, who just might help one of the heroes “escape” a threat.

Johnstone’s previous TV credits include Getting On, The Newsroom and Astronaut Wives Club, plus episodes of The Fosters and Agents of SHIELD.

Timeless continues its freshman run this Monday at 10/9, with a trip to the year 1754.

  1. Kevin says:

Timeless feels like you’re in a roller coaster ride and my favorite new show of the season. Abigail Spencer as Lucy Preston is the MVP of the series.

  2. ew says:

I agree. I really like this show even though the whole “destroy iconic American events” is a little thin. It’s still a fun way to see all these famous events and I like the characters/actors A LOT. They all do a very, very good job… especially the three leads. Matt Lanter is a star!

  3. Im waiting for the episode when they go back in time to June 2015 and prevent Trump from running for president, knowing this left leaning show!

  4. Znachki says:

Could be very interesting. I really enjoyed Erik Larson’s book on the subject “Devil in the White City”. Very accessible read, for those who want to know more.

  5. Will says:

Watched a few episodes. Looks interesting. However, why do they get called in the middle of the night to make a time jump? As Doctor Who said this is a time machine. They can leave at midnight or noon and still arrive at their time destination on time.

    • Jack says:

Their “lifeboat” time destination is locked to the “mothership” that Flynn has. If they wait, they might arrive after Flynn has already done his thing.

  6. David Macko says:

From the delayed destruction of the Hindenburg to the premature deaths of Benedict Arnold and Lord Cornwallis, in the latest episode the Timeless team and Flynn have created major historical anachronisms. Will the team make any effort to correct them and, if so, how?
