Ratings: SNL Hits 150-Week High, Biggest Audience Since Trump Hosted

Dave Chappelle’s “TV comeback” to host Saturday Night Live delivered a 3.15 demo rating and 8.69 million total viewers, eclipsing the Oct. 22 edition (Tom Hanks/Lady Gaga, 2.4/8.65 mil) to mark new season highs.

In fact, SNL scored its best demo number since Dec. 21, 2013, when Jimmy Fallon hosted with musical guest Justin Timberlake, and its largest total audience since a year ago, when Donald Trump hosted with musical guest Lady Gaga.

TVLine readers gave the outing, which opened with Kate McKinnon-as-Hillary Clinton’s solemn and well-received performance of the late Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” an average grade of “A-.”

Last night’s SNL was one of the best this season and kudos to Kate McKinnon. Wonder which male cast member should take over the role of Donald Trump even though I was bummed about Taran Killam’s departure.

JUST A QUESTION: So the N word is ok again? I seem to recall the press gave Che a hard time when he slipped saying it a few weeks back on Weekend Update. But Chappelle said it several times last night with no problem. I guess now that we have a President-elect that says pussy and anything else he wants, we all can too! Wooohooo!

  3. A lot fo the other sketches were a bit fo a miss, but Chappelle’s TWD bit was spot on. A pity Rick James wasn’t in the line up :)
