Major Crimes Season 5

Major Crimes Adds People v. O.J.'s Leonard Roberts as Sharon's Opponent

TNT’s Major Crimes has added Leonard Roberts in a recurring role, as a total of three people jockey to succeed the late Russell Taylor as Assistant Chief of Special Operations.

As previously reported, Emmy winner Camryn Manheim, playing the Deputy Chief of Operations in the LAPD, will vie with MCD boss Sharon Raydor for Taylor’s plum job.

TVLine has now learned that Roberts — whose credits include People v. O.J. (as reporter Dennis Schatzman), The Client List and Heroes — will recur as Leo Mason, the intelligent and charismatic commander of the Criminal Intelligence Division, a third candidate for the job.

Manheim debuts in Season 5’s midseason premiere, airing in early 2017, while Roberts makes his first appearance shortly thereafter.

    • kathy finnegan says:

Totally agree!! Why bring in someone new when we have the perfect candidate right in front of us!!! Come on!!!!!!!!!

    • Babi Godoi says:

I agree, I hope that, if anyone needs to be with that job, that it will be Fritz. We don’t need anyone new in our show… it’s perfect already.

  2. Arthur says:

i’m missing this show so much :(

  3. Insurgent says:

A great opportunity for interesting story lines and compelling characters. Let’s hope we’ll get some really good adversaries for Sharon and she’ll deal with them accordingly….
By the way: WHEN will all this happen? Or better: When will the back 8 episodes of season 5 premiere? And what about the renewal? – We need more of Major Crimes! And we need it soon!

  6. quinquin says:

I hope for an interesting character as Taylor’s successor. A new force Sharon and the team will have to factor in their actions, somebody shaking up our tight knit Major Crimes family a little. Anything else would make Taylor’s death useless. Fritz Howard defintitely doesn’t fit that description. He is far too comfortable with the squad. If it’s Roberts’s character or Manheim’s or somebody else I really don’t care, as long as it will be an interesting story. I trust this bunch of incredibly talented authors will find a great solution to all of this. Can’t wait for the stories to unfold!

  7. Elena George says:

Don’t care who sits in Taylor’s seat as long as Major Crimes gets renewed and renewed again!

  8. Nana Colby says:

I loved the Closer and was sorry to se it go. I do watch the reruns. That being said, I really enjoy Major Crimes and I am glad the cast stayed together and continued a great show. I hope it continues for a long time.
