Family Guy Recreates Saved by the Bell Caffeine Pill Scene — Watch Video

Prepare to feel so excited. (And it’s OK if you’re a little scared, too.)

Back in August, TVLine exclusively reported that Mark-Paul Gosselaar was lending his voice to Family Guy for a reenactment of the iconic caffeine pill scene from the 1990 Saved by the Bell episode “Jessie’s Song” — and on Sunday, that promise finally came to fruition.

Here’s the set-up: After helping Chris win a date with Taylor Swift, Stewie can barely contain his excitement over the pop star being in his house. “I haven’t been this excited since I abuse those caffeine pills to get ready for the big show,” he tells Rupert, cuing up a ridiculous recreation, in which Stewie assumes the role originally played by Elizabeth Berkley.

“It was one of those times when we were like, ‘Do you think Mark-Paul Gosselaar would play [Zack]? Let’s try,” Family Guy executive producer Richard Appel told TVLine in August. “And he did it quite enthusiastically.”

(“Jessie’s Song,” for those who aren’t aware, was a very special episode of Saved by the Bell, in which Elizabeth Berkley’s character — who temporarily formed a band with BFFs Kelly and Lisa — became briefly addicted to caffeine pills, leading to a major crash.)
