President Obama Accepts Bill Maher's Invitation to Appear on Real Time

President Barack Obama has agreed to appear on Real Time With Bill Maher, nine months after the HBO talker’s host initiated a formal WhiteHouse.gov petition inviting the sitting POTUS to come on as a guest.

Maher announced the VIP booking during his Oct. 28 telecast (watch video above), saying, “I’m thrilled that the president has finally accepted our invitation to come on the show – just like with the country, he always comes through in the end.”

Maher sired the aforementioned petition in mid-January, after years of failing to book the 43rd president, and he even leaned on viewers to honor his own 60th birthday (on Jan. 20) by helping acquire the 100,000 signatures needed to secure an official White House review of the request.

Maher is scheduled to tape his interview with President Obama on Tuesday, to air next Friday, Nov. 4 — four days before the election that will determine the next Commander-in-Chief. Will you be tuning in?

Great news!!! Finally. So happy for Bill

  2. JP Bakken says:

Yes!!! So glad President Obama will be on Real Time! Signed the petition the first night. Bill does not get the credit he deserves for being honest and true to his convictions; and being the voice for the millions of us who feel and talk about things he puts voice to. Love New Rules!!

And yet no reported story about Hillarys very bad day. If todays very clear corruption involved Trump, you would have already posted at least one biased story attacking him. Great job at finally being impartial and non-political when you should be fair and honest in your representation! #Hipocrite

What is there to report? FBI found more emails. They have no idea what’s even in them all yet. Give it a week, FBI director is expected before the committee again next Friday I believe? THEN maybe if it turns out there is something real bad then there you can have your field day.

      • Temperance says:

Exactly. The head of the FBI makes himself a criminal to no avail. No problem for HRC.

        • peterwdawson says:

How is he a criminal? It was an ongoing investigation, he got new information, he’s required to clarify that his previous statements about having seen all the emails are no longer true as new ones have surfaced.

          • dman6015 says:

As reported today, the FBI needs a warrant to look at the emails, which they do not have, yet. If they started going through them without it, they get tossed.

          • peterwdawson says:

Yeah, looks like they were screwed coming or going: Director had to ammend his testimony, but they didn’t have a warrant to look at the emails yet, so its just a giant question mark and generally looks like disorganization.

          • Mary says:

I don’t know about criminal but definitely unprofessional. No statement should have been announced until he obtained the warrant and actually looked at the emails. It is hard to see this as anything but a political move. I have no problem with investigating the new emails but when does the FBI comment on investigations before they actually have something concrete. It won’t change my vote unless he has concrete proof of something, which sorry after all these investigations and leaks no smoking gun has appeared.

          • peterwdawson says:

Yeah, there’s been some obvious negligence and some coincidences, but at best you got just the A of the equation A + B + C = D.

    • Temperance says:

It wasn’t a ‘real bad day’. It wasn’t anything. Conley breaks FBI rules and practice, proabbly violates the Hatch act and Federal election tampering laws, loses his job and goes to jail. It was a very bad day for him and the FBI.

    • K says:

Are you talking about the FBI looking into some emails that aren’t from Hillary, weren’t on her server, and might be duplicates? Why would a TV site report on that? There was however an article with a video where Stephen Colbert talked about it. So your complaint makes absolutely no sense. Just like supporting an unstable racist misogynistic egomaniacal pathological liar.

I was hoping the Pres would go on his show, especially when it was announced he was going on Full Frontal. Congrats Bill!

Best thing to happen in ages!

  6. Karl Perodin says:

Finally! It will be fascinating. Will he say “A million thanks” ? On a more profound note, we may perhaps discover the less guarded Obama, the one that will ressucitate after this 8 year descent in the tortuous bowels of vicious polititics where friends are few and far between.

  7. Karl Perodin says:

P.S. About the previous note, please excuse my English.

  8. Kenny Bullock says:

This is great news! I participated in the petition signing. Love Bill’s show even though I disagree with his support of Obama and Hillary. Looking forward to this interview.

  9. popeye013 says:

Its a shame that Pres. Obama won’t be appearing live on the show Friday but in a pre-recorded interview that will be edited.
Especially when he has been onto other shows live, kind of a let down in that respect but glad Bill gets to interview Obama, im hoping not too much is cut out to suit the WH press moaners!

    You bet I’ll be watching,

  11. annaicenter says:

I’m going to miss it because I’m in Canada right now – for whatever reason Canada doesn’t make it easy to watch American television – I’m really sad about missing this.

  12. JScout says:

Very happy about this. I signed the petition, too. I was almost certain he would appear on the show, though didn’t know if before the election or before he leaves office. Can’t wait to watch.

  13. Elsie McPherson-Brown says:

    I”ll be watching!

  14. Boris Meman says:

It’s about time ! Maher has been trying to get Obama on his HBO show “Real Time” for 8 years !
