History Six Premiere Date

Navy SEAL Drama SIX Gets Premiere Date at History, Badass Cast Photo

History’s highly anticipated Navy SEAL drama, SIX — led by Justified favorite Walton Goggins — will begin its mission on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, the cable network announced, while also releasing a cast photo.

Inspired by real missions and promising to “authentically capture the inside world of America’s elite Special Operations unit,” SIX‘s eight-episode first season follows members of Navy SEAL Team Six, whose covert mission to eliminate a Taliban leader in Afghanistan goes awry when they uncover a U.S. citizen working with terrorists.

The series opens with troop leader Richard “Rip” Taggart (played by Goggins) making a questionable decision while on a mission in Afghanistan. Two years later, Rip is captured by Boko Haram, Nigeria’s militant Islamist group, and it’s up to his former SEAL Team Six brothers — played by Jaylen Moore (Homeland), Kyle Schmid (Copper), Barry Sloane (Revenge), Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos), Edwin Hodge (Chicago Fire) and Donny Boaz (The Great Debaters)  — to put their differences aside to locate and rescue their onetime leader.

SIX also stars Dominic Adams (Devious Maids), Brianne Davis (Jarhead), Nadine Velazquez (Flight), and Nondumiso Tembe (True Blood).

    Looking forward to this!

  3. MMD says:

If Walton Goggins is there, so am I. Hope it airs in Canada on History.

    The photo looks silly

  5. its about time! I’ve been waiting for this!! I thought it was going to premiere in July. WAHOO!

  6. M3rc_Nate says:

Really looking forward to this, but while I love Goggins from Justified I was even more excited when the lead role was going to be played by Joe Manganiello. This seemed like the perfect project for him to be the lead in.

Which cable network as we heard something about HBO?

  8. ronlake28 says:

History channel is the perfect home for this series as they have delivered so well with their other series and lets face it, Walton runs circles around Joe as an actor.

  9. If Goggins is there then so am I. Just hope it’s better than Texas Rising, which was unwatchable.

    • ronlake28 says:

What did you find so unwatchable with Texas Rising; it was as accurate as they could make a series and I found the acting credible.

Token black operator for TV political correctness. Less than 1% of the entire JSOC are black men, and they are almost never SEALS. (the whole swimming way out in the dark ocean thing)
Met one black Green Beret once.. a total stud who seemed to trying to make up for a hundred thousand of his brothers who were looking for easier service.

    • Rochester Mama says:

Yes, there are only about 200 black SEALS out of approximately 2,400 active. But I think they’d deny being “tokens”. Those men fought their asses off the be part of the brotherhood and your comment disrespects their talents and drive. Furthermore, the SEALS will gladly accept anyone who can make the grade. BUDs and finishing school have high attrition rates, not because of race, but because they are designed to select only the most qualified physically, mentally, and emotionally for the job.

Please look up Fred Morrison (first African American frogman). Also look up David Goggins (an African American U.S. Navy SEAL operator and endurance athlete) and Sonny Manson (U.S. Navy SEAL). Look up Nick Irving (Ranger sniper). These are just a few of the fine men that serve(d) our spec. ops. community and happen to be black. And stop making inaccurate statements in the future…

I’ll give it a chance but I bet it’s a lot like The Unit, which was great at first but lost steam very quickly.

  12. Jay K says:

I really wish they would not do this series. Draws too much attention. But it is too late to stop it.
