Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes on Family Guy? Peter Griffin is ready to tell all.
Sunday’s all-new episode, “Inside Family Guy” (Fox, 9/8c) is a pseudo-“making of” installment, reminiscent of The Simpsons‘ “Behind the Laughter,” where members of the Griffin family give interviews as if they’re actors on a sitcom. And in the exclusive first-look clip above, they take us back to where it all began.
First, Peter talks about what a joy it is to work with his family all day on the set, then come home to spend more time with his family, and then look forward to the weekend… with his family. He glumly asks, “Isn’t that the dream?” (Though it’s clear it’s more of a nightmare for him.)
Then Chris reveals the shocking truth: The show was originally supposed to focus on him, not his dad. In fact, it was called Chris Griffin: Teen Doctor, and we see a clip of him tending to a bed-ridden Peter, who’s chomping on a cigar and mugging for the studio audience. Yeah, based on that, they were probably smart to go in another direction.
