TV Runs for Office: 10 Funny Episodes to Help You Survive Until Election Day

Are you tired of this election? That means you have something in common with, well, everyone.

You can’t flip on the TV these days without hearing someone yell about Trump, Hillary, videos, emails, tax returns, Wikileaks… and we still have more than three weeks to go! No matter which candidate you support, every one of us could use a serious mental-health break. So let’s all heal together with the power of laughter.

Click on the photo gallery to the right and find ten hilarious episodes of TV, all lampooning the sheer ridiculousness of our electoral process. These old favorites and new classics — all available to stream right now — should help you find some humor in this grim marathon of a presidential campaign. (We laugh so that we do not cry.)

Take a look at the episodes we picked, then come back and hit the comments to remind us of all the funny political episodes we forgot to include. (We can always order a recount.) But please, no real-world politics talk. We’ve all had enough of that to last us a lifetime.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Oh I am so plugging my ears to all coverage until nov 8th and rewatching season 4 of Parks and Rec instead. Watching that election will be so much better for my sanity than watching the current presidential election.

  2. Kay says:

I would rather watch ‘The Comeback Kid’ on Parks and Rec. Not only does ‘The Debate’ hit WAY too close to home, but the ice rink scene in ‘Comeback’ is probably one of the funniest scenes to ever grace television. “Get On Your Feet!”

I am not even in the U.S. and I’ve put myself on a total news ban except for the late night comics. I have watched 2 debates, after the fact, and my friends south of the border you have my deepest condolences not only for the 2+ years of constant campaigning but your selection. I damn near went nuts when our last election cycle was 12 weeks instead of the usual 6 weeks.
    Jed Bartlet for President!!! :-)

Documentary Now! is such a great show. I wouldn’t call it a flat-out comedy, and it’s obviously not a drama, but every time I watch it I can just feel the love for television as medium and documentaries in general. If you love documentaries, and even if you just want to see something that is full of love, passion and fantastic attention to detail, I highly recommend you watch it. And it has Bill Hader in it, who is probably one of the best performers SNL has ever given us.

  5. Collette says:

This election is a farce. The problem is no one is amused. We have a petulant bully, a totally unethical shrike, a bewildered nobody and a shrill scold. Where’s the logic?
