Tracey Ullman's Show

Tracey Ullman's Show Gets Premiere Date at HBO — and No Brit Is Safe

Tracey Ullman‘s long-awaited return to late-night TV is less than a month away.

Premiering Friday, Oct. 28 at 11/10c, the half-hour Tracey Ullman’s Show finds the Emmy-winning funny lady slipping into the skin of Dame Judi Dench, German chancellor Angela Merkel and Dame Maggie Smith — to name just a few celebrity impersonations — in a variety of comedy sketches that examine “modern life on the British side of the pond.”

It’s been 30 years since the debut of Fox’s The Tracy Ullman Show, from which The Simpsons originated, and Ullman’s been killing the game ever since. In addition to her HBO series Tracey Takes On…, which nabbed her six Emmys, Ullman has appeared in a seemingly endless parade of TV shows and movies, including Ally McBeal, Into the Woods and Corpse Bride.

    What wonderful news!

  2. Cate says:

It aired here in the U.K. a while ago. Love Tracey but the scripts were disappointing – not funny enough

oh for a second there I thought it said HBO was going to be airing episodes of the Tracey Ullman show

Her original show bombed in the ratings. But people liked the Simpson’s segments. Who would have guesses after all these years the Simpsons would be still going? It will probably outlast her new show as well.

The Simpsons should give her 15 seconds at each break to do her stuff. ;-)

I love Tracey, but I have to agree with others posting here that the writing falters (the same problem SNL has). I have many of her original shows on VHS, but I’d rather watch the tape I edited together of all of her appearances on Letterman over the years. That’s where I really feel for her!

Caught the trailer on HBO. This looks hilarious!

    30 years? Wow.

  7. Bluduckie says:

She needs to take over The Tonight Show hour. Fallon is a failure. She’s sooooo talented and we need a good, broadcast, network variety hour!

    Adore her! Can’t wait!
