Empire's Naomi Campbell to Recur on Lee Daniels' Midseason Fox Drama Star

Onetime Empire pot-stirrer Naomi Campbell has landed a mother of a role on Star, Lee Daniels’ musically themed midseason Fox drama.

Featuring a soundtrack of original music and music performances, Star follows three talented singers — Star (played by Jude Demorest), Alexandra (Ryan Destiny) and Simone (Brittany O’ Grady) — desperate for a new start and with ambitions of stardom, as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success.

Campbell will recur as Rose Spencer, Alexandra’s beautiful, wealthy and cultivated London-born mother.

Star also stars Emmy winner Queen Latifah (as the girls’ surrogate mother), Benjamin Bratt (24: Live Another Day) and Amiyah Scott (Real Housewives of Atlanta), while Grammy winner Lenny Kravitz is among the guest stars.

I’ll admit that Lee Daniels turns me off (and that I gave up on Empire after episode 5), BUT I will try this new show because of Benjamin Bratt and Queen Latifah.
