Lin-Manuel Miranda to Host SNL

Lin-Manuel Miranda is not throwing away his shot to host Saturday Night Live.

The Emmy, Grammy, Tony and Pulitzer Prize-award winning Hamilton actor/auteur is set to host the Oct. 8 telecast alongside musical guest Twenty One Pilots, who will be joined by Miranda. This will mark Miranda’s SNL hosting debut. (Not to too our own horns, but we totally called it!)

“I have a bit of a week next week,” Miranda tweeted early Wednesday, immediately following the announcement.

Margot Robbie will kick off Season 42 this Saturday, with The Weeknd serving as musical guest.

SNL enters its new season down three cast members, including veterans Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah and one-and-done featured player Jon Rudnitsky.

To fill the void, EP Lorne Michaels is bringing in a trio of newbies: SNL writer Mikey Day, male improv performer Alex Moffat and Latina impressionist/actor Melissa Villaseñor.

YES! I haven’t watched SNL in a couple of years, but I’ll tune in to see Lin!

This is SO awesome! I know Lin has done a lot, but he’s mostly known for Hamilton. I hope they consider more Broadway people to host; that would be fun.

Good news he’ll host the show for first time! So happy Twenty One Pilots will be performing on the show for the first time! Can’t wait to see this episode!

A shame he’s on with an awful musical guest. Oh well.

and even he will not be able to elevate the crappy writing to acceptable status…….

I was excited about Lin, but I’m even more excited about the addition of Melissa! She was GREAT on America’s Got Talent–way to go hitting the big time!

Hope SNL should do a Hamilton parody.
