Agents of SHIELD Jason O'Mara

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Sneak Peek Reveals the New Director's Name

A sneak peek for the second episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s fourth season (airing Tuesdays at 10/9c, on ABC) drops the first major clue about who exactly is the new boss of Coulson, May et al.

In the clip below, the aforementioned field agents pay a visit to the new Director (played by Jason O’Mara), whom Coulson addresses by the first name of “Jeffrey.”

When O’Mara’s casting was first announced, it was said that he’d be playing a character “whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s.” The actor himself told TVLine in August that the Director has “a very manly name.” Add in the seemingly trivial fact that O’Mara will be working sans his native Irish brogue… and one must wonder: Is this the patriotic, “70-year-old” character he is playing?

Watch the sneak peek above and share your current theory on the new boss’ identity, as well as his managerial style/worrying about Daisy and “optics.”

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Jeffrey Mace, the Patriot? (AKA, one of the guys who filled in for Captain America while he was in suspended animation.) There goes my theory about him being Jim Hammond (the original Human Torch who had a small cameo in the first Cap movie)… and if it is, nice tip of the hat to Marvel Studios. That said… would he be a descendant of the original?

I’m not a huge fan of the team being split up and somewhat at odds with each other. I hope that doesn’t last too long this season. Also, I hope Hunter and Bobbie are back at some point. It’s kind of dreary without them around.

It’s currently “dreary” (your word not mine because Tony Stark messed up with Ultron and pretty much turned the entire MCU on its head. Our Agents are just trying to make the best of a deplorable situation. But it’s always darkest before the dawn.

I watched the premiere last week and was sorely unimpressed. I love Jason O’Mara so here’s hoping he can add something to this show that, at least I need, to stay invested.

Good sneak peek clip of new episode. Excited to watch new episode tomorrow and learn more about new director!

I was kind of hoping he would be Tony Masters, and that his 40s connection would be Kurtwood Smith’s character Vernon Masters from Agent Carter.

The real question is will he try to fit into Chris Evans old uniform? I’m sure that will piss off Phil just enough to bitch slap him with that new hand of his.
