Fall TV Preview

Supergirl Season 2: Superman Takes Flight in First Teaser Trailer

Not since The Care Bears have we been this excited to see cousins team up and save the day.

The CW on Monday released a teaser trailer from Supergirl‘s upcoming second season (Oct. 10, 8/7c), revealing the first footage of Tyler Hoechlin in action as Clark Kent (aka Superman). It’s only a 30-second teaser — during which Cat Grant gets about as much face time as the Man of Steel — so we’ll just consider it a nice little post-Emmys treat.

The new video finds the cousins joining forces to rescue the crew aboard an aircraft that lost contact with ground control, a moment of teamwork Kara has apparently dreamt of for quite some time. (As have we all, Kara. As have we all.)

In other Supergirl news, Dichen Lachman (The 100, The Last Ship) recently became the newest addition to Season 2. She’ll appear in the fourth episode as DC Comics baddie Roulette, the proprieter of an underground fight club — and she’d just love to get Supergirl ringside.

Hit PLAY on the teaser trailer above, then drop a comment with your hopes for Season 2 below.

  1. Am I the only one that got a Superman: TAS flashback here :)

  2. The Kaibosh says:

CW finally has Superman on one of it’s shows.

    • Patrick says:

Since they’ve established TV universe as separate from Movie Universe, I imagine this is a test to see if they can stage a Superman show. IMO, that is why they went with a less known, but not unknown, Superman. To see if it can go as its own series.

    • Dani says:

Lol !I agree. They never showed Smallville Clark in costume.

  3. Jon willis says:

It’s ironic that Superman shows up on Supergirl’s show but he never appear on his on show. Poor Smallville

    • Carrie says:

Smallville was always about Clark Kent before he became Superman. That’s why it was called Smallville, not Metropolis. He officially became Superman in the finale. I thought that was always made very clear.

  4. Fido says:

Superman isn’t going to be in every ep, right ?! I hope the writers give us an acceptable reason why he doesn’t just turn up ever week to help out his .. cousin (?) AND a reason why Supergal doesn’t continually fly off to help him out. It would also be nice for the Flash show to explain why HE doesn’t keep zoom off to neighbouring states to save people.

    • ndixit says:

Because the Flash lives in Central City and while he can run to other states and cities, he can’t actually detect when crime is happening in other cities and states

      • Wordsmith says:

Exactly this. Ability and opportunity are two separate things.

The argument is much more relevant when you look at the team from Person of Interest, whose whole power was basically knowing in advance where every crime in the country was going to happen, and yet they mostly never left New York City. (Thankfully, the show did finally hint at the existence of other similar teams in the final season)

        • Fido says:

I understood that to be the machine only giving them numbers of people they could save / stop. Be kinda useless giving them numbers for someone in Botswana or Outer Mongolia.

      • Fido says:

… they do have the internet, the news, telephones and twitter – he could easily and quickly hear about a fire in a tower block in a neighbouring state.

        • Rex the Wonder Dog says:

That’s why it is good he now has Supergirl. Superman can take care of the east coast and Supergirl can take care of the west coast.

  5. Mike says:

They better be careful. The title of this show is SuperGIRL. One of the reasons the first season worked so well is that SuperMAN was left on the cutting room floor.

    • Rex the Wonder Dog says:

Maybe this will better explain why Superman doesn’t rush in to save the day when someone gets a hangnail in National City.

  6. Phun says:

3 more weeks! I am hyped!

  7. Joey Padron says:

The teaser for new season looks good. Good to see Superman in the teaser for new season! Excited to see season 2!

  8. texmike says:

I think Supe’s cape sucks. Those gold clips and the way it attaches to his uniform just doesn’t look right.
