Larry Wilmore 'Replaces' Colbert on CBS' Late Show — Video

Two weeks after the unceremonious conclusion of his Nightly Show on Comedy Central, Larry Wilmore returned to late night — much to Stephen Colbert’s (deadpan) surprise.

Wilmore opened Tuesday’s The Late Show, declaring himself the program’s new host before launching into the opening monologue. However, his comeback is quickly cut short when Colbert — aka Wilmore’s ex-Daily Show colleague and his Comedy Central predecessor — walks out and reminds him who’s boss.

Wilmore’s response? “I’m sorry, I thought whoever leaves Comedy Central at 11:30 just gets the Late Show.”

Ratings stagnation. Show took a huge hit last September before the Daily Show returned with new episodes, and since then it was barely managing to stay above half a million viewers, and the show was lacking viral video content as well. Hell the Daily Show itself has barely managed to keep it above a million viewers and been more or less stagnant this year at about 750k.
