Judge Judy is being summoned to primetime.
Judy Sheindlin, the veteran court-TV personality, is currently developing Her Honor with CBS, Variety reports. The semi-autobiographical drama would be told from the point of view of the youngest judge in New York who excels in the courtroom, but struggles in her personal life. Sheindlin is co-writing the pilot with Chicago Justice showrunner Michael Chernuchin, whose previous credits include Law & Order, 24, Black Sails and Rogue.
CBS earlier this year turned to fellow daytime-TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw to develop Bull (premiering Sept. 20), a drama loosely based on McGraw’s early days as trial consultant starring NCIS’ Michael Weatherly.
Judge Judy, which first debuted in 1996, continues to outperform most shows in syndication, and is currently renewed through 2020.
