CBS, Judge Judy Team for Autobiographical Drama Series

Judge Judy is being summoned to primetime.

Judy Sheindlin, the veteran court-TV personality, is currently developing Her Honor with CBS, Variety reports. The semi-autobiographical drama would be told from the point of view of the youngest judge in New York who excels in the courtroom, but struggles in her personal life. Sheindlin is co-writing the pilot with Chicago Justice showrunner Michael Chernuchin, whose previous credits include Law & Order, 24, Black Sails and Rogue.

CBS earlier this year turned to fellow daytime-TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw to develop Bull (premiering Sept. 20), a drama loosely based on McGraw’s early days as trial consultant starring NCIS’ Michael Weatherly.

Judge Judy, which first debuted in 1996, continues to outperform most shows in syndication, and is currently renewed through 2020.

  1. Michael Summerset says:

You just know they’re planning to do a crossover with this and Bull. Provided that Bull manages to survive it’s first year.

  2. Ryan says:

Oh my god. How have they never done a sitcom loosely based on Judge Judy?

  3. Couch Mom says:

She’s a scream. Watch her whenever I take a day off. While I don’t care for Dr. Phil, I would watch a sitcom based on her. Sounds like it may be similar in some aspects to Night Court – which was great also, although not based on anyone’s life or experiences.

  4. Phil says:

Hahaha – Dr. Phil gets one, so she has to have one one as well!
    Great title, though.

  5. kirads09 says:

Confession: I love her so – Yay. HMMM-who should play her?

According to Forbes, Judge Judy is paid $47 mil per year, which works out to $900.000 for a days work. Her net worth is $290 mil. Is this nuts, or what?

    • Scooter says:

Yes, nuts. I’m apparently in the minority in this but I look forward to the day her popularity and paycheck goes away.

  8. GraceM says:

    Judging Amy, anyone?

  9. Juju says:

The name of the show should be TYRANT!

    Did this make the cut?
