John Cho

John Cho Eyes USA Drama Connoisseur

John Cho is about to climb behind the wheel of his first starring vehicle.

The go-to supporting player (Sleepy Hollow, Selfie, FlashForward, etc) and Star Trek vet has signed on to headline Connoisseur, an hour-long crime drama currently in development at USA Network, Variety reports.

The potential series, from up-and-coming scribe Gary Lundy and Hand of God creator Ben Watkins, revolves around Clay Park, a brilliant con artist who dupes the wealthiest, most powerful people in the country into paying millions for fake wine. But his hustle forces him into a deadly bargain with an organized crime syndicate, puts him in the cross-hairs of the FBI, and unearths the details of a tragedy that fractured his family years ago in Korea.

I’ve only seen him on SH. I’ll check this one out if it flies.

  2. MiaB says:

Is this based on a true story? I feel like I’ve seen this on American Greed.

  3. Ian says:

John Cho as a lead in a drama? Yes please.

  4. Freddie says:

Technically, wasn’t Selfie his first starring role? I never watched the show, so I could be wrong about that.

Anyway, if this show makes it to air and then to Canada, I’ll absolutely 100% watch it.

  5. Luis says:

Finally!!! Cho has been an under-the-radar star in waiting for years.

  6. Max says:

Love John Cho, but crime syndicate and FBI, plot sounds tired already.

  7. Anna says:

Sounds kinda White-Collar-y, which is not bad but not very original either. But John Cho… So I guess I’ll check this out. It’s about time he’s cast in a leading role!

    • Jennifer says:

That was my first thought. Just wine instead of art. I may check it out. Just have to see … (I do like John Cho …)

  8. Lucy says:

I loved him in Selfie — he and Karen Gillan were fantastic. I’m in for at least the first few episodes of this.

  9. lrdslvrhnd says:

I wouldn’t characterize him as a “supporting player” in Selfie. He was as much of a lead as Karen Gillan.
Dunno if I’ll check this out, though. Just not grabbing my attention, other than his involvement.
