Varsity Blues TV Series Eyed at CMT

Seventeen years after James Van Der Beek uttered those five immortal words (“I don’t want… your life”), CMT is eyeing a TV version of Varsity Blues.

Per our sister site Deadline, CMT has ordered a script for a potential series based on the 1999 football movie. The film’s original writer, W. Peter Iliff, will also write the small-screen adaptation. Paramount TV will produce.

Varsity Blues starred Van Der Beek as Jonathan “Mox” Moxon, a Texas high school quarterback with big dreams of attending Brown University. The film also starred Jon Voight, Paul Walker and Scott Cann.

Aside from Van Der Beek’s aforementioned line of dialogue, the film is best remembered for a scene in which Ali Larter’s character dons a whipped cream bikini. Relive that magical moment below:
