Anna Paquin Alias Grace Cast

Anna Paquin to Star in Netflix/CBC Margaret Atwood Miniseries Alias Grace

Anna Paquin sure seems to like her roles bloody: The True Blood star has been cast as a brutally murdered housekeeper in Netflix and CBC’s six-hour miniseries Alias Grace, our sister site Deadline reports.

Sarah Polley’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s 1996 novel centers on Grace Marks (11.22.63‘s Sarah Gadon), a historical figure who was convicted of killing her boss Thomas Kinnear and his housekeeper/lover Nancy Montgomery (played by Paquin) in Canada in 1843.

Paquin’s character starts out as Grace’s friend, but her jealousy over Thomas’ feelings for Grace lead her to fire the young Irish immigrant. Nancy later turns up very dead.

The project’s cast also includes Zachary Levi (Chuck).

Since True Blood‘s series finale, Paquin has appeared in A&E’s Roots remake; the Oscar winner also starred in ABC’s divorce-law pilot Broken, which was not ordered to series.
