Rogue One Trailer Gets TV Debut During NBC's Olympics Coverage — Watch

And the gold medal in the Men’s 50-meter force choke goes to… Darth Vader!

As promised, the new Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer made its debut late Thursday during NBC’s primetime Olympics coverage, and the big question going in was whether we’d catch a glimpse of Luke and Leia’s daddy fearest. And the answer is… yes.

This is the second trailer Disney has dropped for the Gareth Edwards-helmed prequel pic, which arrives in theaters on Dec. 16. The new clip’s release follows a similar strategy the studio employed with Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ second trailer, which was unveiled during last October’s Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles.

Have to admit it. I got chills with the Vader reveal at the end. Yep. Can’t lie.

  2. Tim Douglass says:

GREAT trailer! Darker, action and Darth, what more could you ask for!

  3. David4 says:

    Looks amazing!

  4. Michael Summerset says:

    Zatoichi the Jedi?

  5. Jag says:

I’m tearing up… this is epic. Cant wait and the lead I think will be easy to love. Feels like a more serious tone in it but I love it. The team also is just the right rag-tag. Chills!

I’m completely in the minority here but I’m not really a Star Wars franchise fan but this trailer was really great. I liked the new robot-y dude…sorry if my lack of Star Wars knowledge is showing.

  7. Mpr says:

I _hate_ what has been done with the Imperial theme. I know its star wars, I can see all the cues. Make an original piece, stop raping the classic. That’s really my only objection, though. Want.

    • Ninamags says:

Well, talk to John Williams then. He’s the one who wrote the original piece.

Is he even doing these other movies as well?

  8. Joey Padron says:

The new trailer for movie looks great. Good to see Darth Vader at the end. So excited to see the movie in December!
