Gotham Harley Quinn

Gotham Bosses Teases Harley Quinn 'Forerunner,' More Joker Mythology, 'Proto' Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy

Perhaps the small screen will deal Harley Quinn a better hand?

On Monday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Gotham executive producer Ken Woodruff shared that Season 3 of the Fox drama, vis-a-vis the Indian Hill experiments, will touch on “proto” versions of the DC comics characters Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy — similar to how it planted a seed for the Joker during the first two seasons (with Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome Valeska).

Speaking of the redheaded menace, showrunner John Stephens said, “The cult of the Joker” will “extend and deepen” in Season 3, and that there are bigger plans for the character if there is a Season 4.

Looking even further down the pike, Stephens said a “forerunner” to Harley Quinn could surface on the series at some point, though he seemed to rule out a Season 3 debut for the proto version of the villainess played by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad.

  1. AJ says:

OK, Cameron Monaghan was so good they got away with the Jerome-Not-Really-The-Joker thing. If they start doing that with multiple characters it will get annoying fast. Just do the actual character!

  2. The Kaibosh says:

**sigh** they really don’t know what to do with this show do they? Harley Quinn “forerunner”? More Joker mythology? Look get it through your heads show runners: There is only one Joker and we as the audience are not meant to know who that is: EVER. It’s been that way since 1940 and no second rate TV should be allowed to step all over this sacred cow piece of canon. Superman escapes an exploding Krypton and is adopted by the Kents, Jonathan and Martha Wayne are shot by Joe Chill in crime alley and the Joker’s identity is forever a mystery. Capisce? Let it go and put some effort into original story telling.

  3. Rahajicho says:

In summary, a faux Harley Quinn may appear in a yet-to-be confirmed future season.

  4. Michael Summerset says:

If it shows Harley it will show her before she met the Joker when she was working as a therapist and had not yet gone crazy.

  5. Scott says:

They already have a proto-Harley with Barbara Keen.

  6. Joey Padron says:

Good news Killer Croc and Solomon Grundy will be in new season. New preview of Gotham and Lucifer’s new seasons looks really good. Excited to see both new seasons next month!

  7. They might as well put the Bat-Suit on Gordon since he is fighting all of Batman’s villains now.

  8. JMark (formerly JM) says:

Geez, some of you are WAY too serious. I actually like the idea of the Joker mythology. It makes it more believable that when THE Joker finally appears that he will have a built-in cult following. NO WHERE does the article say that THE Joker’s identity will be revealed, so get a grip. I’m really enjoying this series, whose purpose is to show the deviant and violent environment that shapes Bruce Wayne’s teen years and gives birth to his future identity of Batman.
