Major Crimes Sneak Peek: Is Provenza Ready to (Finally) Retire?

Is Major Crimes‘ Detective Lieutenant Louie Provenza prepared to hang up his shield?

That question is on at least one person’s lips in this sneak from tonight’s episode (airing at 10/9c on TNT), after Provenza (played by G.W. Bailey) gets some very unexpected (and to hear him tell it, incomprehensible) but good news. Considering that everyone else from his police academy class has been retired since Season 2 (!), is it time for the final hold-out to call it a day? Press play above for his thoughts on the matter.

Elsewhere in the episode “Moral Hazard,” Major Crimes must work hard to find a disturbed man (Justified‘s Jere Burns) who has a bag full of guns and a long list of grievances, in the wake of a tow yard shootout, while Rusty pushes against LAPD policy in an attempt to find more evidence related to the murder of Buzz’s father and uncle.

Loved this, but couldn’t happen but notice the renewal for The Last Ship. Where is Major Crimes renewal, TNT?!?!

  2. RedReddington says:

I will forever be annoyed that we’ve see Patrenza kiss a few times and have yet to see Shandy kiss. WTH is up with that?!

  3. Vasilieva Lena says:

    Patrenza kiss again, really? XD

anyway, big thank you for the video, Matt

  4. ilona says:

Well, Provenza can afford to live a little as well, can’t he? haha! This is going to be FUN! Thanks for the sneak peek as always!

  5. ami says:

No! Provenza can’t retire! Ever! He’s too important to the team ^^

  6. KLS says:

Please tell me that disturbed guy will use his bag of guns on Rusty!

  7. Phyllis says:

How much longer are we going to hear of Rusty’s mom? Please don’t put us thru her new baby. I think Rusty should have a life of his own now.

    • Annie Auerbach says:

Thanks Phyllis, my thoughts exactly. The Rusty-bad mom-good mom arc is the opposite of compelling, as are the actors who play Rusty and Captain Rador: mono-toned, stiff, with as much charisma as a grub. Provenza, along with the rest of the cast, carries the show despite the Captain, who talks through her teeth, and Rusty, who never moves his face. Let those two leave, bring back Brenda Leigh Johnson, and THEN we will have a show!

      • Em Cooper says:

Considering Kyra wanted to leave The Closer and move on to other things and return to living in New York–are you suggesting kidnapping her and forcing her to return to a job she no longer wants? I think Major Crimes is very good with all the actors they have–you have a problem with some of them and expect your demands to be met? And that would be why??? SMDH

  8. Stefanie Wildermann says:

Thank you so much for the sneak peeks every week 💜💜💜

  9. HAP says:

Art imitating life? G.W. Bailey is 71 years old.

  10. Teresa Driskell says:

No retirement for Provenza!!! NO NO NO! We love his character!

  11. Maxsmom says:

Provenza and Sanchez are the biggest reasons I watch Major Crimes followed by Flynn and Tao. Sharon was a supporting character and should never have transitioned to lead. The Closer squad should have remained the same with Raydor as a thorn in their side. Rusty should never have been a regular and the fact that the producers are tone deaf should have put me off this show the first night but I love my guys and still hope for a Brenda sighting.

    • drhenning says:

well i find Major Crimes more enjoyable than The Closer… It’s more of a team show and has been since it started… Closer was about her..

And you can get your fix of BL on all the syndicated repeats of The Closer..

  12. Carol C says:

    Love that guy!

  13. susan says:

Did anyone else notice the captains high heels as she entered the hotel, yet when she shows up on the scene of cocktail reception after the guy jumps, she has boots on
