Carpool Karaoke: Apple Music Buys James Corden-Produced Series

Apple Music just slid into the passenger seat of James Corden‘s Carpool Karaoke series.

The music service has bought a 16-episode series based on the popular Late Late Show segment; Corden and Late Late Show producer Ben Winston will produce, CBS announced Tuesday.

Each installment, featuring a to-be-announced host (who won’t be Corden) and celebrities belting tunes while riding to locations meaningful to the star, will be available exclusively to Apple Music subscribers.

The project is based on Corden’s bit-turned-viral-sensation, which has featured notable names such as First Lady Michelle Obama, Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and pop star Selena Gomez crooning along with the CBS late night host as he drives them around.

A premiere date has not yet been announced, but production is slated to begin “soon.”

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Lala says:

One of the main reasons this Carpool karaoke have done so well is how lovable James is and the insane chemistry he seems to have with all the guests, also his childlike excitement whilst he sings-a-long with the stars.
I hope James Cordon does not stop his segment because he is part of what makes this awesome.

  2. Katie says:

I feel like this is kind of an odd choice since carpool karaoke is what attracts a lot of viewers to him. I had never watched until I kept seeing the videos. It seems like this would take away the novelty of him doing it on his show.

  3. wgsecretary says:

Why would they do it without him? I was excited until I saw that he wouldn’t be the host.

  4. Kelley says:

Really? Apple Music subscribers only? IF I watch, I’ll catch it on YouTube illegally, since I won’t subscribe to Apple Music. Not cool.

  5. Rahajicho says:

Corden won’t be hosting? Already a failure.

  6. Jacqi says:

Will this completely replace the carpool appearances on his show? Or is just another carpool?

  7. This is like Lip Sync Battle when it was just a segment on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. I thought it wouldn’t be good without him on it, but i guess i was wrong.

I hope this Carpool Karaoke has something unique about it as Lip Sync Battle show has.

  8. Beth says:

    James Corden IS carpool karaoke.

  9. Bella says:

    Nooooo. No James? Not interested.

  10. Sue says:

James MAKES Carpool Karaoke so much fun. I don’t want to watch a wanna-be take his place.

  11. You put Michell Obama billing first and don’t even list Adele!?!

    “That’s just…wrong….”

  12. Lee says:

Epic fail not having Cordon in the car!

  13. theresa says:

i first watch it because of james then the artist.

  14. This is so stupid, Apple Music.
