The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai may continue.
Amazon and MGM are close to a deal for the streaming service to host Kevin Smith’s planned small-screen adaptation of The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension, our sister site Deadline reports.
The 1984 cult classic starred Peter Weller (Robocop) as an physicist/pilot/rock musician who, with his band of men, the Hong Kong Cavaliers, battled alien invaders from the eighth dimension.
The sci-fi folly’s cast also included Clancy Brown, John Lithgow, Jeff Goldblum, Christopher Lloyd and Ellen Barkin — some of whom Smith has said he’d like to have appear in the revival.
Smith was approached by MGM about rebooting Buckaroo Banzai shortly after he helmed an episode of The Flash this spring (a feat he will repeat during Season 3 of the CW hit).
