Nicole Richie Great News

Nicole Richie Joins NBC's Great News Midseason Comedy in Recasting

It’s great news indeed for Nicole Richie: Paris Hilton’s onetime sidekick has been tapped to replace Scandal’s Kimrie Lewis-Davis in NBC’s midseason comedy, Great News, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the life of 30 Rock writer/producer Tracey Wigfield, the series revolves around a mother/daughter duo who wind up as colleagues when the overbearing former — played by Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) — begins interning at the cable news network that employs the latter, played by Briga Heelan (Undateable).

Former reality star Richie (The Simple Life, Candidly Nicole) succeeds Lewis-Davis as Portia, the ditsy co-host of The Breakdown, a news show on the cable network. Happily Divorced’s John Michael Higgins is Richie’s fellow, old-school anchor.

What do you think? Will you tune in to the show to see how the onetime Empire and Chuck guest star fares as a series regular? Would you watch regardless? Hit the comments.

An actual actress gets replaced by some reality has-been? WTH?!

    I hope it’s funny. That’s it.

I only ever watched Richie when she guest-starred on Chuck, but I did enjoy her there. Maybe she’ll be good here?
