Ratings: Republican Convention Opens Strong, On Par With 2012

The broadcast networks’ coverage of Night 1 of the Republican National Convention totaled north of 10 million total viewers with a cumulative 2.3 demo rating, on par with the RNC’s opening night in 2012 and easily leading Monday in both measures.

Night 1 of Mitt Romney’s RNC, with cable viewership eventually folded in, went on to tally 22 million viewers. (Cable ratings come in much later in the day.)

NBC led the Big 3 coverage, delivering 4 million viewers and a 1.1 rating.

Placing No 2 for the night was ABC’s The Bachelorette, which was steady at 6.6 mil/1.9. NBC’s American Ninja Warrior (5.8 mil/1.7) dipped 9 percent and a tenth, while Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (2.6 mil/0.7) ticked down to its third-smallest audience ever.

Wow, really disappointed with TVLine for the amount of coverage on this topic, and the amount of publicity you have given Trump. It’s websites like this that continue to prop up racism and white supremacy.

Happened to turn on a channel that it was on and lasted about 3 minutes into Melania’s speech. I didn’t think she knew that much English and no way did she write that OR she just fakes the broken English when asked a question by reporters.

It’s going to be a long 2 weeks. I have no idea how you Americans stand it. I damn near went out of my mind when our federal election in 2015 lasted for 12 weeks instead of the normal 6 weeks.
