Ratings: Cavaliers' NBA Championship Draws 30.8 Mil, Biggest Game Since '98

ABC’s broadcast of the NBA Finals Game 7, in which the Cavaliers emerged triumphant over the Golden State Warriors, delivered an average audience of 30.8 million viewers and a 15.7 demo rating, making it the most-watched and highest-rated NBA game since Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. ABC’s Game 7 tallies peaked with 44.5 million viewers and a 22.5 rating from 10:30-10:40 pm ET.

All told, this year’s series was the most-watched NBA Finals since 1998, averaging 20.2 million viewers across seven games.

As previously reported, in the early metered-market numbers, Sunday night’s Game 7 stands as the highest-rated sports telecast on ABC or ESPN since Feb. 5, 2006 (ABC’s Super Bowl XL broadcast).
