American Ninja Warrior Ratings

Ratings: American Ninja Warrior Returns Steady, Dominates Night

NBC’s American Ninja Warrior swung back into action on Wednesday with 6.4 million total viewers and a 1.7 demo rating (per finals), on par with its year-ago opener (5.9 mil/1.8), delivering its biggest premiere audience ever and easily leading the night in both measures.

Leading out of that, The Night Shift‘s Season 3 opener (4.8 mil/1.1) was down from both its sophomore premiere (5.5 mil/1.5) and finale (5.2 mil/1.2), both of which aired in-season and after The Voice.

Elsewhere in the ratings….

FOX | MasterChef returned to 3.8 mil and a 1.2, up in audience and matching the demo from its previous premiere. Wayward Pines (2.5 mil/0.8) shed some few eyeballs and a tenth in the demo vs. its Season 2 premiere.

ABC | The 500 Questions finale did 4.5 mil and a 0.8.

THE CW | The iHeartRadio pool party thing drew 680,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.

How has Roots faired in nights 2 & 3? There were all these stories about premiere ratings & nothing since

The fine folks at TVByTheNumbers do a stellar job of daily ratings rundowns for the cable-TV programmes.

America Ninja Warrior is my favorite summer show. Hopefully with the high ratings (and cheap production costs?) NBC keeps it around.

Considering they keep expanding the franchise (Team Ninja Warrior, USA vs The World, ANW All Stars and now rumors are they are even looking into a College edition of American Ninja Warrior) I dont think there’s any worries about it getting canceled. It’s probably the most succesful network summer show right now and that puts it in the safest of safe spots.

I’m so glad American Ninja Warrior is doing well. It’s nice to see a reality show where you have to have actual skill besides the skill of being as thirsty as you can to get on camera.

And though competitive, there is a genuine camaraderie among the contestants. ANW is a joy to watch. And, boy! the producers really know how to put together emotional packages about the athletes!
