Westworld Series Premiere Date HBO

Westworld, Sarah Jessica Parker's Divorce Set for Fall Premieres at HBO

Westworld‘s gates will open right around the time kids head back to school this year, HBO announced Thursday.

The western/theme park/sci-fi drama will make its debut this fall, despite needing to take a two-month break at the beginning of the year so the writing team could finish the season’s last four scripts. The series is loosely based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 movie of the same name. Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), Jeffrey Wright (Boardwalk Empire),Thandie Newton (Rogue), James Marsden (30 Rock), Evan Rachel Wood (Once and Again) and Ed Harris (The Rock) star.

Divorce, Sarah Jessica Parker’s half-hour comedy about a seemingly interminable uncoupling, also secured a fall debut. Thomas Haden Church (Wings), Molly Shannon (Saturday Night Live), Talia Balsam (Mad Men) and Tracy Letts (Homeland) co-star.

Rounding out the premium cabler’s fall newbies are the half-hour comedies Insecure, a look at the friendship of two black women from Awkward Black Girl‘s Issa Rae, and High Maintenance, about a Brooklyn pot dealer (played by Ben Sinclair, Sisters) and his eclectic array of clients.

So I guess Leftovers will be a January debut? Looking forward to Westworld.

Good thing that’s not vague… I always hate when they’re too specific in these articles teasing a start ‘date’ for shows.

SJP always said that there was at least one more story to tell on Sex & the city. I had hoped that we would see the ladies one more time ( with a better script & acting ) showing Carrie coping as a widow/divorced women in her 50’s.

I had always thought the final story would be them dealing with the death of one of the four characters. I agree that it would require a much better script.

I’m very excited for Westworld. I hope it overcomes its production issues and turns out to be a hit series.

Will Margaret Cho’s weed show on Amazon come out before this HBO similar topic one?

Thanks for the update. I’d been wondering what happened to ‘Westworld’ – been looking forward to seeing it. As a side note, is it just me, or is the fall TV schedule extra-crowded this year? My husband & I have been waiting for WGN’s ‘Salem’ to return, and just found out that it’s not coming back until Halloween week! :-p
