Kesha Performs Emotional Bob Dylan Cover at Billboard Music Awards 2016

She may have dropped the dollar sign from her name, but Kesha‘s performance at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards was still money.

Dressed in a white pantsuit, decorated in glittery images of flowers and broken hearts, the “Tik Tok” songstress was joined by Ben Folds on piano for a surprisingly emotional rendition of Bob Dylan’s “It Ain’t Me Babe.” To call it a change of pace for the normally high-energy singer would be a grave understatement.

Of course, Kesha’s appearance at the BBMAs was newsworthy for more than her performance alone. The singer is currently involved in a contentious legal situation with producer Dr. Luke, dating back to Oct. 2014 when she first sued him for sexual assault, emotional abuse and violating California business practices, among several other accusations. Though a judge rejected Kesha’s claims in April 2016, her legal battle remains ongoing and almost kept her from performing at Sunday’s ceremony.

That was a really pretty and lovely performance. I’m glad she was able to work it out so she could attend.

  2. Douglas from Brazil says:

    She’s trashy.

  3. Eric Stump says:

She saved the show for me. I don’t appreciate, for the most part, the songs of this generation. It was good to see a great performace, of a classic song, by a classie lady.

  4. Lola says:

I was shocked. I don’t know if it’s all she’s going through behind the scenes but she seems so different from the initial Kesha that was introduced to the world. I took her as the usual pop fodder but she really has a good voice. I had no idea.

  5. Oh I love this version, the arrangement is gorgeous. It is a song I have liked since way back when and was wonderful to enjoy this one. Wish it were on iTunes; I want it.

  6. Lovely performance Kesha
