Ron Howard Directing NatGeo's First Scripted Drama Series Genius

National Geographic Channel is getting into the scripted game with a little help from a big name.

Ron Howard is set to direct the first episode of Genius, an anthology drama about the world’s greatest inventors, our sister site Deadline reports. The first season of Genius, which received a straight-to-series order, will focus on renowned physicist Albert Einstein — maybe you’ve heard of him? — with information gleaned from the Walter Isaacson-penned biography Einstein: His Life and Universe.

Howard is also among the series’ (many) executive producers, including several names from his production company Imagine Entertainment. Genius is slated to begin production in Prague this summer; NatGeo is aiming for a spring 2017 premiere.

I hope it’s good and a success. I rather watch scripted show in these “educational” channels rather than shows about pawn shops or swamp men.
