Ratings: 20/20 Tops Friday With Prince Report, ABC Bubble Sitcom Finales Dip

ABC’s Last Man Standing (with 5.9 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating per finals) and Dr. Ken (4.6 mil/0.9) both ticked down with their season finales, as both shows await word on possible renewal.

Shark Tank (5.4 mil/1.2) also dipped, while 20/20‘s special report on Prince’s life and sudden death (5.7 mil/1.2) rose 14 and 20 percent week-to-week, hitting a 10-week audience high and tying Shark Tank for the demo win.

CBS’ Amazing Race (5.4 mil/1.0) and Hawaii Five-0 (8 mil/1.1) were steady.

NBC’s Grimm (3.9 mil/0.9) ticked up 7 percent and a tenth.

With MLB preemptions (in Chicago and Sacramento) factored out, The CW’s Vampire Diaries (1 mil/0.4) wound up flat.

Grimm needs to jump harder into the Black Claw stuff, always enjoy big arcs rather than case of the week. And they gonna reduce eps for a show that rises again on a Friday?!

They might also want to factor in MLB preemption in the San Francisco Bay Area market for NBC. Three weeks in a row, Grimm has not been aired on the NBC affiliate KNTV. Instead, it is aired on COZI digital only, a station aimed at older viewers. Not exactly the demo NBC is aiming for. Plus, given all the tech savvy young adults working here, you bet Grimm garners a lot of viewers in the target demo – when it’s aired. Angry much? Yes!

DITTO! It was annoying but tolerable when Grimm would air on KICU channel 36 due to baseball preemptions on KNTV. However, this COZI ridiculousness has got to stop! That channel is only available to Comcast subscribers, so the rest of us get screwed and have to watch online (at least) a day later. If I wanted to watch baseball, I’d turn on a SPORTS station. The least KNTV could do is air Grimm later that same night or broadcast it on an alternate affiliate that is accessible to ALL viewers regardless of their TV provider. SO BITTER.
