One Day At A Time Reboot

One Day at a Time: Netflix Reboot Finds Its Schneider in Todd Grinnell

One Day at a Time‘s latest casting is nothing short of super.

Todd Grinnell will co-star in Netflix’s 13-episode comedy as off-beat building superintendent Schneider, the only character from Normal Lear’s original series to appear in the reboot, our sister site Deadline reports.

Like the reboot itself, which now focuses on a Cuban-American family, Schneider has also reportedly undergone a few tweaks; he’s now the privileged son of the building’s owner, who allows him to live there rent-free in exchange for working as the manager.

Grinnell — whose TV résume includes roles on shows like Grace & Frankie, Revenge and Desperate Housewives — joins previously announced cast members Justina Machado (as single mom Penelope) and Rita Moreno (as Penelope’s Cuban-born mother).

The original One Day at a Time, which counted Bonnie Franklin and Valerie Bertinelli among its stars, ran from 1975 to 1984 on CBS. Will you be checking out the reboot? Drop a comment with your thoughts below.

FFS WHY?? Just stop making tv all together if this is all there is. I only watched that show cause I was a kid and Valerie was SMOKEN hot.

So Schneider is now a yuppie 1 percenter? I fail to see the funny here.

  9. Ugh, so … new guy (original schnieder and mom are dead anyway) totally different family and backgrounds … how is this a reboot? At least most reboots have SOME of the original characters. This schneider looks young enough to be the orginials grandson from way back then.

Why not reboot the Brady Bunch and make them a black family but keep Alice white? How about rebooting Charles in Charge and making Buddy and Adam gay with Jamie being a prostitute?
