Chicago Melon: Jimmy Fallon Previews Explosive New NBC Drama

NBC and Dick Wolf are cashing in on the Internet’s love of erupting produce.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday shared an “exclusive” clip from Chicago Melon, the umpteenth offshoot of Chicago Fire inspired by BuzzFeed‘s recent experiment to see how many rubber bands would have to be wrapped around a watermelon to get it to explode. (Apparently it was a slow work day.)

While the clip above is clearly a parody, there’s no telling what network executives are thinking up right now. After all, more than 800,000 people watched as two reporters in hazmat suits ruined a perfectly good piece of fruit[Insert shrug emoji here.]

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

That was a good and funny parody.

  2. jj says:

Picking the low fruit. Par for the course with Fallon. Lowest common denominator. His show is less than one step above the internet shows he makes fun of.

  3. Jimmy did the watermelon/rubberband test last season…

  4. jim says:

As comical as it was, it is a pretty good representation of police tactics…….
